Dr. Adamu is a life member of the Nigerian Economic Society, Fellow of the Economics Institute / Consulting Economists Academy, West African (ECOWAS) Region, and a member of the National Association for Research Development.  She is happily married with children.

Profile of Professional Staff

Dr. (Mrs.) Patricia Agbomekhe Adamu was born on February 8, 1963. She is an International Development Economist with the following credentials: B.Sc. (Hons) Economics/Education, M.Sc. Banking and Finance, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Economics all from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. She won the best graduating student Award in M.Sc. Banking and Finance and is also a scholar of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dr. (Mrs.) Adamu’s areas of specialization include:  Macroeconomics, International Economics and Economic Development/Human Capital. She has published several articles in indexed national and international journals and books. She is currently a Senior Programme Manager, Macroeconomic Management Department, WAIFEM.

Prior to her appointment in WAIFEM, Dr. Adamu was a Lecturer at the College of Education Ekiadolor, Benin City and the University of Benin (part-time) where she taught the following courses:  Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Quantitative Methods, Public Finance, International Trade and Labour Economics.

Dr. Adamu has attended short-term courses on external debt recording and general data dissemination system, Commonwealth Secretariat, London, global meeting of training providers at the Bank of International Settlements, Basel, Switzerland; financial programming and policies, and balance of payments statistics and compilation, organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She has also consulted for and facilitated in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) training programme on pro-poor fiscal policy management for five Nigerian States.

Mrs. ‘Toyin O. Jemilugba, is the Senior Manager, Administration and Finance Department of WAIFEM. She joined the Institute on February 4, 1997 as the Personal Secretary to the founding Director General. While working with the erstwhile Director General, she participated actively at Technical Committee and Board of Governors’ meetings.

Mrs. Jemilugba brought to WAIFEM many years of experience as a senior officer at the First Bank of Nigeria Plc. She is a seasoned administrator holding HND (Secretarial Administration) and a post graduate Certificate in Human Resource from Lagos State Polytechnic and Olabisi Onabanjo University respectively. She has attended several specialized programs on Human Resource Capital Development in Nigeria and abroad.

She is an Associate member of the Institute of Business Development (AIBD).

Dr. Udoma Afangideh is a Nigerian by nationality. Born on June 10th, 1970, he holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also earned B.Sc. (First Class Honours) in Economics from the University of Uyo, Nigeria.
His areas of research interest include but not limited to Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, Public Sector Economics, Quantitative Technique and Financial Sector Development. He is a scholar of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Nairobi, Kenya.

Until his appointment as the Senior Programme Manager, Financial Sector Management Department on 2nd May, 2010, Dr. Afangideh was a Lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Uyo, Nigeria.

Dr. Afangideh has published articles in refereed journals as well as made presentations at local and international conferences. He has also consulted for reputable organisations including ECOWAS. He is a member of Nigerian Economic Society (NES) and Nigerian Association of Energy Economics (NAEE).

Dr. Elijah Abasifreke Paul Udoh was born on November 2, 1972. He is a Nigerian by nationality. He holds a Ph.D and M.Sc. in Economics from University of Ibadan, Nigeria and B.Sc in Economics from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. He is also a scholar of the African Economic Research Consortum (AERC) in Nairobi, Kenya. His areas of research interest include but not limited to International Economics, Public Sector Economics, Econometrics, Economic theory (both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics).

Prior to his appointment as the Senior Programme Manager, Business Development Unit on March 15, 2012, Dr. Udoh was a Senior Lecturer in Department of Economics, University of Calabar, Nigeria.

Dr. Udoh has published articles in refereed journals as well as made presentations at local and international conferences. He has also consulted for reputable organisations including European Union, World Bank, UNICEF, and ADB. He is a member of Nigerian Economic Society (NES).

He is married and presently has two children.

Mr. Ogbonnaya Agu attended the University of Calabar from 1986 to 1990 where he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Accounting. He joined WAIFEM in April 1997 as an Assistant Accountant and was later promoted to Senior Accountant in the Administration and Finance Department. He is currently the Programme Manager Financial Sector Management Department.

Mr. Agu has attended many short term courses in (Banking, Finance Management) both in Nigeria and abroad. He has considerable experience in donor fund accounting and is in the final stages of obtaining the ACCA qualification.

Mr. Agu is an Associate Member of the Institute of Business Development.

Mr. Gabriel Yaw Asante, a Ghanaian, was born on March 28, 1968. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana and a master’s degree in Economic Policy Management also from the University of Ghana. In addition to his academic qualifications, Mr. Asante holds a professional qualification (Level II) of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA-UK). He has benefited from many seminars and training courses both in Ghana and outside Ghana.

Until his appointment as the Programme Manager, Macroeconomic Management Department, Mr. Asante has worked as a research and policy analyst at the Internal Revenue Service, Ghana and rose to the rank of Senior Inspector of Taxes (SIT). Over the years, he was also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ghana Telecom University College, and Regent University College of Science and Technology where he taught Financial Management, Econometrics and Accounting. He served on many supervision committees at both undergraduate and MBA levels. He has to his credit the publication of “Basic Statistics Made Easy”.

He is married with three children.

Mr. Karamo Jawara was appointed Programme Manager, Debt Management Department, WAIFEM on September 15, 2010 and assumed duties on the same day.

He is a Gambian, born on August 28, 1973.
He is an Economist by training with the following credentials: BA (Hons) Economic and Human Resource Management from University of Ghana, Legon - June 1999. MSc. Economics and Finance from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester - September 2008.

Prior to his appointment at WAIFEM, he was the Principal Banking Officer at Central Bank of the Gambia and his major responsibility was the management of Gambia's Domestic Debt. He joined Central Bank of The Gambia in June 2002and has attended several debt management courses.

He is married with three children.

Mr. Alvin G. Johnson is a Liberian, born on March 1, 1972.He earned his MA in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana, Legon in 2006 and B. Sc. (cum laude) in Economics from the University of Liberia in 2001.

Mr. Johnson joined the Research Department, Central Bank of Liberia in March 2002 and rose from the position of Junior Analyst to that of Economist in Balance of Payments Section. In 2009, Mr. Johnson was appointed as Consultant/Director for Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Finance and was responsible to conduct fiscal policy research, revenue impact analysis as well as develop tax policies aimed at improving taxation and revenue administration.

Prior to taking up the position of Research Manager at WAIFEM on October 6, 2011, Mr. Johnson lectured Economics on a part-time basis at the University of Liberia and the Stella Maris Polytechnic since 2007.

Mr. Johnson has attended several international courses and obtained certificates in Financial Programming and Policies, International Trade-in-Services Statistics, Revenue and Expenditure Programming, General Data Dissemination System and FDI Statistics, and Balance of Payments Compilation and Methodology.
