Overview of Courses/Programmes of Activities Executed (1997 - March 2026)
From 1997 to 2026, WAIFEM made a total of 1036 capacity building interventions in pursuit of its mandate. Of these events, 928 or 89.6 percent represents knowledge and skills upgrading through training courses / workshop / seminars while 108 or 10.4 percent represents missions (needs assessment and follow-up) and other capacity building-related activities, such as progress review meetings and impact assessment surveys/studies. A total of 29,202 participants benefited from the programme.
Of the total 29,202 participants that benefited from the programmes executed, Nigeria accounted for 10,504 or 36.0 percent, Ghana 5,835 or 20.0 percent, and The Gambia 4,347 or 14.9 percent. The number of participants from Sierra Leone was 4,030 or 13.8 percent of the attendees; socio-political situation in Liberia adversely influenced its low participation rate of 3,065 or 10.5 percent of the total. Non-regional participants began to take advantage of the existence of the Institute with them accounting for 1421 attendees or 4.9 percent (See Graphs and Table below for additional details).
