From 1997 to July 2026, WAIFEM made a total of 1060 capacity building interventions in pursuit of its mandate. Of these events, 951 or 89.7 percent represents knowledge and skills upgrading through training courses / workshop / seminars while 109 or 10.3 percent represents missions (needs assessment and follow-up) and other capacity building-related activities, such as progress review meetings and impact assessment surveys/studies. A total of 29,940 participants benefited from the programme.
Of the total 29,940 participants that benefited from the programmes executed, Nigeria accounted for 10,686 or 35.7 percent, Ghana 5,986 or 20.0 percent, and The Gambia 4,406 or 14.7 percent. The number of participants from Sierra Leone was 4,203 or 14.0 percent of the attendees; socio-political situation in Liberia adversely influenced its low participation rate of 3,227 or 10.8 percent of the total. Non-regional participants began to take advantage of the existence of the Institute with them accounting for 1432 attendees or 4.8 percent (See Graphs and Table below for additional details).
