From 1997 to September 2026, WAIFEM made a total of 1069 capacity building interventions in pursuit of its mandate. Of these events, 960 or 89.8 percent represents knowledge and skills upgrading through training courses / workshop / seminars while 109 or 10.2 percent represents missions (needs assessment and follow-up) and other capacity building-related activities, such as progress review meetings and impact assessment surveys/studies. A total of 30,172 participants benefited from the programme.
Of the total 30,172 participants that benefited from the programmes executed, Nigeria accounted for 10,736 or 35.6 percent, Ghana 6,027 or 20.0 percent, and The Gambia 4,439 or 14.7 percent. The number of participants from Sierra Leone was 4,255 or 14.1 percent of the attendees; socio-political situation in Liberia adversely influenced its low participation rate of 3,283 or 10.9 percent of the total. Non-regional participants began to take advantage of the existence of the Institute with them accounting for 1432 attendees or 4.7 percent (See Graphs and Table below for additional details).
